Wonderful, 1980s suit from one of my favorite designers- the great Patrick Kelly. Kelly only produced collections for five short years - starting in 1985 and ending with his death in 1990. His designs were exuberant and witty - they were avant garde and he was bold through his use of color! His work has been the subject of Museums exhibits worldwide. This suit is part of a collection where this pattern was repeated though out in different colors, including this fantastic red. It is bright and vibrant and the fabric is a subtly textured cotton so that on close inspection you get an interesting play between the pattern and the fabric itself. The skirt is pencil cut with a wide waistband and side slanted front pockets. The jacket is fitted and cut to follow the body. I love the huge red glossy buttons that adorn the front and each cuff. The jacket also has front top stitched pockets. Excellent condition and appears to have never been worn.
